Echo Lab Jobs in California (NOW HIRING)

The Echo Lab uses ultrasound systems manufactured by different vendors. It is expected that the Sr. Ultrasound Technologist (SUT) becomes an expert in its use, maintains that level of expertise, including when new equipment is purchased. All echoes performed take place in acute care and outpatient care settings. This position requires certification as an RDCS/RCS. The SUT is also responsible for maintaining a high standard of medical ethics at all times. The SUT is self-motivated to increase the level of understanding and knowledge of the field, understanding pathophysiology, learning new procedures as they evolve, and follow established examination standards that adhere to the policies and procedures of UCDH and IAC. Clinical instruction of cardiac ultrasound students is expected and required per the Echo Lab Supervisor's discretion. Participation in lab sponsored events/demonstrations as requested. This position is Monday through Friday, 8hr shift. Availability for mandatory overtime in the medical center and assignment to perform echo procedures at other Primary Care Network (PCN) may be requested. #CA-SB

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

• American Registration for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification with applicable credential [e.g., Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT, etc.], or equivalent certification
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) issued by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) in AE (Adult Echo).
• American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
• At least 3 years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer in an acute care setting.
• Ability to perform all requested 2-D /3D, stress echo examinations as ordered by the attending physician.
• Ability to perform and understands advanced cardiac analytics: cardiac mechanics (strain), 3D/4D volumes and analytics as they become commercially available.
• Have working knowledge of transesophageal echocardiograms, and ultrasound guided transcatheter therapies and structural heart procedures.
• Effectively operates ultrasound equipment. Have a working knowledge of different ultrasound systems. (i.e., Siemens SC 2000, Philips-Epiq, CX50, iE33)
• Prepares preliminary worksheet and contacts referring physicians when required, according to established protocols.
• Coordinates with other staff to ensure appropriate patient care.
• Addresses problems of patient care as they arise and makes decisions to resolve the problems appropriately.
• Organizes daily work schedules and performs related clerical duties as required.
• The Sonographer Assumes responsibility for the safety and well-being of all patients in the Echo Lab.
• Reports equipment failures to clinical engineering then appropriate Supervisor or staff member.
• Provides in-service education on echo procedures as requested by other members of the health care team.
• Participates in establishing policies and procedures; participate in on-going continuous quality improvement as part of the IAC (CQI) requirement.
• Participate in echo research projects.
• Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all patients and staff members.
• Understand and utilize the organizational structure to benefit the Echo service and the hospital.
• Performance of TTE and or exercise stress echocardiogram procedures in Primary Care Network (PCN) clinics as assigned.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
• Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills; documents and reports clearly and concisely.
• Conveys instructions, directions and information appropriately.
• Works at establishing a good rapport and professional working relationship with all department personnel.
• Readily assists co-workers.

• Advanced level of cardiac ultrasound skill required.
• Demonstrates technical dexterity and a working knowledge of anatomy and pathophysiology of cardiac disease and in the preliminary interpretation of results obtained.
• Demonstrate ability to recognize normal human anatomy, certain pathological conditions, and the ability to utilize ultrasound equipment to differentiate disease processes and artifacts.
• Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures sufficient to effectively perform job functions or refer to others.
• Knowledge of standard keyboard, ability to input/retrieve data accurately and to observe applicable Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and Information Services (IS) access codes, security and patient privacy.

Work Environment
