About This Role

The Lilliputian School is a non-profit community school providing a unique learning environment for young children in the Mount Washington Valley for over 3 decades. Our students enjoy the best of both the Montessori approach and well as an outdoor-based education model.


We are proud to be TimberNook Certified school! We love the outdoors and spend a lot of time outside in all weather conditions! Our ideal candidate for this position must have a love of the outdoors along with a connection to the Montessori philosophy and have the ability to create a rich learning environment that serves the whole child as a self-directed learner. We serve children ages 24 months through 6 years of age.


In this position the teacher helps to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assists with activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assist the staff in implementing a quality educational program and develop positive relationships with the children and their parents, the Substitute Teacher observes and documents children's interest and progress, and relays that information back to the Lead Teacher. Substitute Teachers are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs under the direction of the Lead Teacher and the Executive Director.


What You'll Do
  • Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
  • Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
  • Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
  • Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
  • Follow all center policies and NH Childcare Licensing Rules.

Requirements
  • Preferred 1-2 years of professional child care experience.
  • Enjoy being outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • High energy.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • An understanding of child development.
  • Must clear full background check, including fingerprinting.

Nice To Haves
  • Understanding of Montessori philosophy.
  • 1+ years experience in early childhood education.
  • Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification.
