Job Description
Clinic Specific: Complete telephone intake for patients seeking assessment at MUSC Health Center for Eating Disorders. Use clinical judgment to assess health status of potential patients and consult with medical director to identify patients in need of more emergent assessment Serves as primary contact for medical team within CFED and referring physicians/other clinicians Triage patient and parent calls, respond to medical concerns within scope of practice, work with medical providers to address as needed Help medical team to maintain efficiency with call response time and patient requests Participate in weekly clinical team meetings with multi-disciplinary team of medical providers, therapists, dietitian Assist patients and families with admission to more intensive eating disorder treatment when needed, including intensive outpatient, partial hospital, residential and inpatient treatment Safely perform technical skills within area of practice (including vital signs, gown weights, orthostatic vital signs, clinical assessment if acute concerns at therapist/RD visit). Manage medication refills, prior authorizations, and related tasks. Complete Certificate of Medical Need (CMN) and other DME and care coordination as needed. Maintain up to date patient information in EHR (including creating and updating patient accounts, insurance information, medications, allergies and pharmacy information). Perform regular testing of medical equipment as per hospital policies, work with central supply to maintain adequate stock of medical supplies. Coordinate relevant medical records receipt from referring providers, outside hospitals, including growth charts. Support patients in navigating insurance company processes as related to eating disorder care, including initiating single-case agreements and seeking authorization for higher levels of care. Identify policies, procedure and workflows to decrease safety risks in handoffs and collaboration of care. Maintain readiness for regulatory surveys. Demonstrate hand washing according to policy. Utilize standard precautions, contact isolation and respiratory isolation according to policy. Support medical staff in scheduling, coordinating follow up, confirming appointments as needed when other scheduling team members are not available.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
