American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and active GA or compact RN licensure, working night shifts in an adult-to-geriatric inpatient setting.
Job Details
• 32-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) admitting patients from CICU, MSICU, acute care floors, and the ED,
• Patient population includes adults through geriatrics with diagnoses such as post-op CABG, thoracic and vascular surgeries, respiratory failure, cardiac arrhythmias, DKA, GI bleed, trauma, CVA, seizures, CIWA, metabolic disorders, renal failure, hypertensive emergency, sepsis, and neuro disorders,
• Respiratory failure cases involve multiple treatment modalities excluding invasive mechanical ventilation,
• Patient ratio is 1:3-4 with an average daily census of 21,
• EMR and unit systems include Epic, Pyxis, AirVo, BiPAP, and CPAP,
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:00,
• Every other weekend required,
• Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed,
• No on-call requirements,
• Local candidates are accepted,
Job Requirements
• Active GA or compact RN license required,
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required,
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required,
• PCU or comparable acute care nursing experience expected given the patient population and acuity level,
• Must be away from all facilities within this health system for at least 1 full year before returning as a traveler,
• RTO must be submitted upfront and cannot exceed 7 days total; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of assignment,
• Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred,

• Holiday coverage is required: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two of them - major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day,
• No holiday RTO can be requested unless three major holidays occur during the assignment period, in which case one holiday RTO request may be reviewed for approval,
• No schedule change requests or alternate shift requests will be accommodated - the posted night shift is firm,
• Full compliance with onboarding requirements is needed to start on time; delays may result in a two-week pushback due to a bi-weekly orientation schedule
