Easy temporary jobs can be found through staffing agencies, job boards, or direct company postings.

Job description

Discover whatโ€™s possible in your Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant career in Sierra Vista, Arizona.

Sound Physicians is a physician-founded and led, patient-first medical group grounded in one belief: better support for clinicians leads to better care for patients. Our emergency medicine teams are empowered to lead care locally with the backing of a strong national network committed to clinical excellence, intentional leadership development, and collaborative partnership. Here, youโ€™ll practice alongside care teams that work seamlessly across Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, and Critical Careโ€”creating smoother transitions, stronger accountability, and better outcomes for the communities we serve.

If youโ€™re looking for a place where your clinical judgment is valued, your growth is supported, and your work truly makes a difference, weโ€™d love to talk.

Local Team Collaboration:

  • Join Canyon Vista Medical Center's close-knit team of eight physicians and five advanced practice providers (APPs).
  • Work alongside a diverse group of clinicians who bring a variety of geographic, educational, and training backgrounds to our team. Our physician assistants practice to the top of their scope, with support from attending physicians when needed.
  • Teamwork is at the heart of our culture, with colleagues always ready to lend a hand during procedures or shift changes.
  • Many team members actively participate in hospital committees, such as the medical executive committee, and lead initiatives to improve patient care and update order sets.
  • We are a family-oriented group committed to your wellness and combating burnout. We value work-life balance and provide regular opportunities for engagement and feedback through monthly remote and in-person meetings.
  • Accountable, on-site leadership: a local medical director who knows the community and owns the department's performance, supported by Sound's leadership-development tools.
  • Stable, well-staffed teams: cohesive teams aligned on our patient-first culture of excellence, which means less reliance on premium temp labor and more predictable shifts.

Qualifications:

  • Certification required.
  • Emergency medicine experience preferred.
  • New grads with previous emergency medicine experience are welcome to apply.
  • We value additions to our team who have a passion for leadership and a commitment to enhancing community health.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a welcome asset, enabling even stronger connections with our patients.

Scheduling:

  • 12-hour shifts.
  • Weโ€™re always there to support each other when covering shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide care in a smaller, community-based hospital with a level III trauma designation.
  • Annual ED visits: 10,000.
  • Manage a variety of emergency cases, including triage and fast-track patients.
  • Collaborate closely with Soundโ€™s hospital medicine team to ensure a seamless transition of care.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary environment supported by 24/7 specialty coverage, including cardiology with a cath lab, general surgery, obstetrics, orthopedics with spine care, neurology (with telestroke support), psychiatry (with an on-site inpatient behavioral health unit), oncology, and nephrology with dialysis capabilities in the ICU.

Living and Working in Sierra Vista:

  • Sierra Vista, located an hour southeast of Tucson and nestled among scenic mountains, offers an easy commute to Phoenix. Due to nearby Fort Huachuca, Sierra Vista has a significant military and veteran population. It is renowned for its friendly and welcoming community and is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts.
  • Our guiding principle is a patient-first approach; ensuring the well-being of our patients is always our top priority.
  • As a community-minded team, we are passionate about positively impacting both inside and outside the hospital. Our clinicians take pride in serving the local, diverse population, including underserved groups, and fostering a thriving community.

Rewards and Compensation:

  • Excellent total rewards package.
  • Paid medical malpractice insurance and tail coverage.
