LOCATION OF POSITION: Fairport, NY 14450;Eastern Monroe Career Center

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10-Month Position, Full-Time; Probationary

STARTING DATE: September 2026

SALARY RANGE: $49,470 - $79,820 per school year

The Eastern Monroe Career Center (EMCC) is seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to prepare high school students for careers in Emergency Medical Services. This is an opportunity to combine your industry experience with teaching and mentoring while enjoying excellent benefits, a collaborative work environment, and the chance to help develop the future workforce.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide instruction for high school students preparing for careers in the field of Emergency Services and Firefighting.

  • Individualize the program to meet the needs of students.

  • Maintain student records, attendance, and required reporting documentation.

  • Supervise and collaborate with assistant lab instructors and support staff.

  • Maintain and continuously improve curriculum, course materials, and instructional delivery methods, including online learning components.

  • Ensure program compliance with requirements established by:

-New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH)

-Monroe Community College (MCC)

-Program Medical Director

-Applicable accrediting and regulatory agencies

  • Assess student learning and provide timely feedback on progress.

  • Complete required end of course documentation for NYS DOH, MCC EMS administrative staff records, and MCC associated dual enrollment courses.

  • Maintain the following certifications:

  • NYS Certified Instructor Coordinator (CIC)

  • EMT - Basic

  • Keep informed of changes, advances, and problems in the pre-hospital emergency care discipline

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must possess:

  • NYSED Emergency Medical Services 7-12 teacher certification or willingness to obtain

  • NYS EMT or Paramedic certification

  • Appropriate medical or allied health education, training, and experience

  • NYS Emergency Medical Services Certified Instructor Coordinator (CIC) certification

  • Experience teaching pre-hospital emergency medical care

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the current National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards

  • Associate degree in emergency medical services, fire protection technology, education, health science, public safety or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education

Preference will be given to candidates who possess:

  • Experience in teaching or knowledge of fire behavior and combustion

  • Current American Heart Association as a Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor certification

  • Bachelor degree in emergency management or fire sciences from a regionally accredited institution of higher education

  • Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
