Position Description
The Earthwork Foreman supervises earthwork operations on heavy civil construction projects, including excavation, mass grading, embankment construction, and subgrade preparation. Reporting to the Trade Superintendent, this role ensures earthwork activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and schedules.
The Earthwork Foreman directs equipment operators and labor crews, coordinates hauling operations, monitors production rates, and maintains grading accuracy while promoting a strong safety culture.
Position Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of heavy civil earthwork experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, compaction, and material placement.
  • Ability to interpret grading plans, elevations, and survey staking.
  • Experience managing equipment, trucking, and crew productivity.
  • OSHA safety knowledge with emphasis on heavy equipment operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • High school diploma required; trade or technical schooling preferred.
  • Valid driver's license
