Grab your hiking boots and head to Pacific Northwest Pet ER & Specialty Center, a state-of-the-art, 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital in the heart of the Pacific Northwest. We are seeking a 2nd Veterinary Criticalist to join our growing specialty team.

Located in Vancouver, Washington, just outside Portland, Oregon, our hospital offers the perfect balance of small-town feel with easy access to a vibrant metro area. With mountains, rivers, forests, and coastline nearby, this is an ideal place to build both a rewarding career and an active life outside of work.

About the Hospital
Pacific Northwest Pet ER & Specialty Center was designed with both exceptional medicine and people in mind. In just a few short years, we've built a dynamic, diverse, and supportive team focused on delivering outstanding patient care while prioritizing staff wellbeing, collaboration, and long-term career sustainability.

Critical Care Opportunity
We are seeking a Criticalist who values true collaboration, mentorship, and a diverse caseload. In this role, you'll partner with an existing Criticalist and work closely alongside our Emergency, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Cardiology, Oncology, and Imaging teams in a hospital where multidisciplinary care is seamlessly integrated into daily practice. The position offers flexibility as either part-time or full-time, with a preference for 12-hour shifts, and includes a combination of both receiving and inpatient responsibilities.

You'll be supported by a well-equipped ECC service featuring advanced capabilities such as mechanical ventilation, high-flow oxygen therapy, therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE), hemofiltration, and a robust in-house laboratory with digital cytology and VCM, enabling you to practice high-level, cutting-edge critical care medicine.

Why Pacific NW Pet ER & Specialty?
A beautiful, modern facility with abundant space and an employee garden
A culture that prioritizes wellbeing, teamwork, and sustainable careers
Daily collaboration with a robust ER and specialty team
Advanced technology, including:
    *CT, MRI, and Fluoroscopy
    *Interventional Radiology & Endoscopy
    *Digital Radiology
*Mechanical Ventilation, High Flow Oxygen, Plasma Exchange, and more

Competitive compensation and benefits, including:
Generous CE allowance
Base salary range: $180,000-$200,000 (pro-sal model)
Professional development incentives
Staff pet discounts
A strong nursing and anesthesia development program, including tuition support and VTS mentorship

Turn Your Everyday Into a Dream Getaway
Vancouver, WA offers mild weather and plenty of sunshine-perfect for year-round outdoor adventure. From your front door, you can enjoy:
Waterfall hikes in the Columbia River Gorge
Skiing or snowboarding at Mt. Hood
Paddleboarding or kayaking on the Columbia River
Weekend trips to the Oregon Coast
Endless scenic hikes with mountain views
A thriving local scene with coffee roasteries, food trucks, and breweries

Additional perks:
No Washington state income tax for WA residents
Big-city access without Seattle-level congestion
More space, more nature, and a true sense of community

More Than a Job - A Team & Community
At Pacific Northwest Pet ER & Specialty Center, you'll join a team that genuinely enjoys working together. Colleagues here share adventures, celebrate milestones, and support one another both inside and outside the hospital-from early morning coffee before rounds to hiking, paddleboarding, and everything in between.

Our culture is built around collaboration, continuous learning, balance, and long-term career satisfaction, allowing you to practice excellent medicine while still having a life outside of work.
