Job description

General Purpose of Job:
DZ Block truck driver is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of all trucks. Deliveries will be made in both industrial and residential areas. DZ Block Drivers will deliver the Right material to the Right job at the Right time, Safely, and with a Smile.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Driver shall take instructions from the Dispatcher. Delivery and shift schedules will be directed by the dispatcher as work schedules demand. The driver will be required to operate either a Moffitt or Princeton to load and unload the truck on a regular basis. The driver is responsible for the efficient working condition and cleanliness of the truck and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
2. Driver will perform pre-and post-trip log records and maintain efficient records.
3. Driver will be expected to assist in maintaining a clean and safe working environment in and around the block yard as per supervisor’s instructions.
4. Driver will operate equipment safely and efficiently.
5. Driver will execute a delivery site inspection for possible hazards (pipes, sewer tanks, drain fields, etc.)
6. Driver will maintain accurate and timely records
7. Driver will obtain signatures on delivery tickets for proof of delivery as needed.
8. Driver will obtain signatures or call supervisor to gain authorization if instructed to drive on property not authorized to do so, or in locations on the property where driver feels property could be damaged.
9. Must have an understanding and willingness to comply with company policies and procedures.
10. Possess a valid state commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a 3-year minimum requirement.
11. Must be able to pick-up, throw, lift or carry a minimum of 50 lbs. regularly and if required up to 75lbs.
12. Must be able to work call-outs at all hours and OT as needed- will involve late night and early morning hours based on customer projects.
13. Must be a team player and role model for the company and its mission.
14. Ability to communicate effectively with the customers and appropriately represent the company.
15. Must maintain a clean driving record.
16. Driver must be able to successfully pass our background screening, drug screen and DOT physical.

Education / Experience


Typically requires a minimum of a high school diploma, vocational training or equivalent. Requires a minimum of 3 years of driving experience with CDL.

Work Environment


While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to work that requires repetitive motion. The noise level in the work environment is minimal. The employee is required to wear appropriate safety equipment (safety glasses (z87 stamped), safety vest or safety shirt, and hard hat) from the time the employee enters the gate until the employee leaves the site. The only time the employee is exempt from wearing all safety equipment is when the employee is inside the office. The employee must attend all safety meetings.
