Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
A D365 Finance Product Owner serves as the critical link between business stakeholders and technical teams, driving the strategy, configuration, and optimization of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O). This role sits within Finance and owns the D365 roadmap as a finance capability, not purely an IT function. They manage the product backlog, define requirements, and ensure system enhancements align with organizational goals, particularly for core ERP process lifecycles such as Record to Report, Procure to Pay, and Order to Cash, with the ability to map business process gaps to D365 configuration and design decisions.
Role Location: Appleton, WI; relocation assistance provided. May consider hybrid/remote candidates depending on relevancy of experience. For candidates not in the Appleton, WI area, regular travel will be required as business needs dictate.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning: Defining and maintaining the D365 product roadmap, prioritizing a backlog against a finance transformation agenda, including ERP implementations (e.g., migrating from legacy or shadow systems to D365).
  • Backlog Management: Translating business needs into functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for technical teams.
  • System Optimization: Optimizing D365 F&O configuration across core process lifecycles - including Record to Report, Procure to Pay, Order to Cash, and Acquire to Retire - to close business process gaps and drive operational efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Acting as the primary liaison between functional business teams across finance (e.g. CFO, Corporate Controller, FP&A, Treasury, Internal Audit, external implementation partners, and divisional finance teams)operations, and IT/technical implementation partners to align system capabilities with business strategy.
  • Support & Adoption: Providing post-go-live support, training, and driving user adoption of the system.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • D365 Expertise: Deep knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations functionality.
  • Experience: Generally 4+ years implementing D365 F&O within a broader 8+ year career spanning finance operations, business analysis, or ERP delivery, with demonstrated experience influencing Finance leadership on system strategy.
  • Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of core financial modules as a primary skillset (GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Cash & Bank, Financial Reporting, etc.), and supply chain and manufacturing as secondary skillsets.
  • Internal Controls: Familiarity with financial controls, audit requirements, and SOX-relevant configuration (segregation of duties, approval workflows).
  • Agile Proficiency: Experience working in Agile frameworks to manage development and configuration.
  • Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
