Apple is looking for an Optical Network Engineer to join their Global Network Services (GNS) team. The ideal candidate to fill the position will work in a dynamic team environment, leading and executing large-scale optical network projects from planning through deployment and handover. The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on optical networking expertise with proven project management skills on large-scale deployments. Additionally, the role requires the ability to develop custom applications and automation tools to streamline network configuration, audit, and onboarding processes, driving efficiency and reducing deployment times in complex environments. The successful candidate will need to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This engineer will need to obsess over the customer experience and drive excellence in their everyday work habits through strong technical leadership and mentorship.","responsibilities":"

Manage multiple semi-autonomous field deployment teams, if applicable. Gain experience in both terrestrial and subsea transport environments, if applicable.
Develop and maintain programming languages (Python, C++, etc.), if applicable.
Preferred Qualifications
At least 4 years of experience in an optical networking related field.
Experience at both a direct hands-on level as well as a centralized role managing multiple semi-autonomous field deployment teams.
Experience in both terrestrial and subsea transport environments.
Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
Hands-on experience developing and maintaining one or more programming languages (Python, C++, etc).
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years in a project engineering or lead role on large-scale network deployments, such as multi-site rollouts and data center interconnect builds.
In-depth experience with one or more optical transport technologies including optical transponders, 400/800ZR+ transceivers, metro and long haul line systems.
Solid understanding of dark fiber characterization, analysis, and troubleshooting.
Experience planning, deployment, and support of large-scale optical transport networks on a global footprint.
Extensive hands-on experience with carrier-grade networking technologies and vendors, including Nokia, Ciena, and Cisco.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $154,600 and $232,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
