Flatbed Dump Truck & Water Truck Driver (CDL with Tanker Endorsement)

C.R. Jackson is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Flatbed Dump Truck & Water Truck Driver to support our heavy highway construction and asphalt paving operations throughout South Carolina. This position is responsible for operating a flatbed dump truck to transport construction materials and equipment, as well as a water truck for dust control and grading support. The ideal candidate takes pride in safe driving, quality work, and being a reliable member of the construction team.
Position Summary
The Flatbed Dump Truck & Water Truck Driver safely operates company vehicles to transport construction materials, equipment, and water to and from jobsites. This role is essential to keeping crews productive by ensuring materials are delivered safely and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety and equipment care.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a flatbed dump truck and water truck in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
  • Transport construction materials, aggregates, pipe, equipment, and other jobsite supplies.
  • Operate the water truck for dust suppression, soil moisture conditioning, and grading operations.
  • Secure loads using chains, binders, straps, and other approved load securement methods.
  • Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and daily equipment inspections.
  • Complete driver logs, inspection reports, and other required documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, foremen, project managers, and field personnel.
  • Report maintenance needs or equipment concerns promptly.
  • Follow all company safety policies and traffic regulations.
  • Assist construction crews with light labor duties when driving responsibilities permit.
  • Maintain a professional attitude when interacting with coworkers, customers, inspectors, and the public.
Qualifications
  • Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Tanker Endorsement required.
  • Previous experience operating flatbed dump trucks, water trucks, or similar commercial construction vehicles preferred.
  • Knowledge of proper load securement and safe material transportation practices.
  • Ability to safely maneuver equipment in active construction environments.
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Mechanical aptitude is a plus.

A valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to climb into and out of commercial vehicles multiple times throughout the day.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, and climb as needed.
  • Work safely around heavy equipment and active construction traffic.
  • Ability to work overtime, nights, and weekends as project schedules require.
