Our Engineers are a vital part of our organization, and we take pride in hiring and training the best in the industry. Duke Energy offers energy services to approximately 7.4 million customers in the Carolinas, Florida, Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. Our fleet of power plants has approximately 50,200 megawatts of generating capacity from a variety of fuel sources-from hydroelectric to coal, oil, and natural gas to nuclear. This is an entry level engineering position within Duke Energy's Engineering job hierarchy. This Engineering position is responsible for Electrical, Control systems, and processes. This includes two GE 7F Combustion Turbines, one GE Steam Turbine and auxiliary equipment such as HRSGs, feed water system and fuel systems.

  • Provide day-to-day operational and maintenance support of the station's Power Block.

  • Develop preventive maintenance and outage plans, update procedures and technical documents.

  • Identify and manage O&M and capital project scopes.

  • Coordinate with OEMs and internal teams; review inspections and corrective actions.

  • Ensure compliance with PSM Guidelines.

  • Provide engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and technical support.

  • Participate in safety reviews, hazard analyses, and incident investigations.

  • Oversee equipment performance and communicate maintenance needs

Basic Qualifications
  • Must have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program

  • A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Mechanical background.

  • PSM facility experience; familiarity with GE turbines/HRSGs

  • Ability to review specs/drawings; basic project management skills.

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and independent work capability

Working Conditions
  • Valid Drivers License required

  • Onsite Mobility Classification - Work will be performed at a company facility.

  • Perform work in a power plant and office environment

  • Required to observe and work in all areas of the generating facility, which are power plant industrial environments operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with potential exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and humidity

  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, noisy and/or other hazards

  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, appropriate clothing, ear plugs, fall protection, etc.), as needed

  • Occasional mildly strenuous physical activity (extensive walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs/ladders, etc.)

  • Ability to lift 25 - 75 pounds

  • Ability to work at heights and from suspended work platforms

  • Required to work in all areas of the power plant
