Job Type: Full-Time / Permanent

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join a collaborative estimating team within the commercial construction industry. This role is responsible for developing accurate, competitive cost estimates by analyzing project documents, coordinating with internal teams, and working closely with subcontractors and vendors. The Estimator plays a critical role in setting projects up for success by balancing accuracy, risk awareness, and strategic pricing.

This position requires a strong understanding of construction methods, market conditions, and cost-control strategies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to communicate clearly with both internal stakeholders and external partners.


Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating & Bid Development
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, addenda, and job-specific bid documents

  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, and equipment using estimating software

  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing for scope completeness and competitiveness

  • Prepare complete, accurate bid proposals that meet all submission requirements

Project Analysis & Cost Control
  • Support project management with budgeting and pricing of significant scope changes

  • Identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities

  • Track market conditions, material pricing, and labor trends to maintain competitive bids

  • Consider backlog and overall profitability goals during bid preparation

Risk Management & Process Improvement
  • Identify potential project risks and incorporate appropriate contingencies

  • Ensure estimates comply with contract requirements, industry standards, and internal procedures

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and best practices

  • Assist with training and mentoring junior estimators to align methodologies and standards

Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with project managers, superintendents, and estimating team members

  • Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain pricing and clarifications

  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and client discussions

  • Clearly communicate assumptions, exclusions, and risk considerations

  • Participate in internal bid reviews and foster long-term client relationships


Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or equivalent industry experience

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial construction estimating; drywall and metal framing experience preferred

  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents

  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Quick Bid, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office

  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail

  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple estimates concurrently while meeting deadlines
