Job description

Overview
Herzog Contracting Corp. is seeking a qualified Commercial Building Inspector in Philadelphia, PA to join our team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
  • Daily monitoring, documenting, and inspecting all scopes related to building automation systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, low voltage system, HVAC, and fire sprinkler through the design and construction phases.
  • Support team for shop drawing, submittal, and constructability reviews as it relates to MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems.
  • Work alongside all MEP subcontractors and help coordinate the planning and installation of building MEP systems.
  • Regular engagement with all members of the project team and stakeholders.
  • Uploading Daily Reports, Inspections and Observations into the Project Management Software.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog's Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in building electrical, mechanical, and fire protection systems.
  • Preferred comprehension of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and experience interpreting schematics and diagrams.
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, communication and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient use of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience using electronic systems for reviewing plans and specifications in the field, as well as documenting the daily progress of the project.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.
  • Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
