Job description

CSP has partnered with a growing local distribution company to identify a Chief Operating Officer (COO)/Chief Experience Officer (CXO) in the greater Washington, DC / Central Maryland area. This executive will drive operational excellence, scalable growth, and digital enablement across the organization, with full accountability for day-to-day operations and customer delivery performance.

Role Overview

This is a critical executive leadership role responsible for overseeing the company’s end-to-end operations, including customer order lifecycle, supply chain, fulfillment, and technology enablement. The COO/CXO will ensure operational efficiency, profitability, and scalability while delivering a best-in-class customer experience across both traditional and digital channels.

The role sits at the intersection of operations, customer experience, and technology, with a strong emphasis on distribution execution and ecommerce-driven growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and optimize end-to-end operations, including order management, warehousing, fulfillment, logistics, and post-sale support
  • Drive operational strategy and execution to support revenue growth, margin expansion, and scalability
  • Lead the continuous improvement of the order-to-cash lifecycle, increasing accuracy, speed, and transparency for customers
  • Oversee and enhance supply chain performance, including supplier coordination, inventory management, and drop-ship models
  • Partner with Sales leadership to align operational capabilities with a solution-oriented, customer-centric go-to-market strategy
  • Drive ecommerce and digital transformation, including self-service platforms, system integrations (punchout), and digital order management
  • Lead implementation and optimization of core systems (ERP, CRM, ecommerce platforms, AI-enabled tools) to enable efficient, data-driven operations
  • Build and scale infrastructure, processes, and KPIs to support high-growth distribution operations
  • Establish operational rigor through metrics, reporting, and performance management frameworks
  • Develop and lead high-performing teams across operations, customer service, and supply chain functions
  • Own operational budgeting, cost control, and resource planning, with a strong focus on P&L impact

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in distribution, supply chain, or industrial/B2B environments
  • Proven success as a COO, CXO, VP of Operations, or similar role with full operational accountability
  • Deep expertise in order management, fulfillment, logistics, and supplier networks, including hybrid and drop-ship models
  • Demonstrated ability to scale operations and infrastructure in a high-growth environment
  • Strong background in ecommerce and digital enablement within a distribution context
  • Experience leading ERP, CRM, and systems transformation initiatives
  • Financially astute leader with strong P&L ownership and cost management experience
  • Data-driven decision maker with a focus on process improvement, efficiency, and continuous optimization
  • Collaborative, cross-functional leader who can align sales, operations, and technology teams around shared goals

This is a high-impact opportunity for a leader who can blend operational excellence, customer-centric strategy, and digital innovation to elevate the overall customer experience in a growing distribution organization.
