JOB OVERVIEW:

Drop Crew is responsible for the installation of residential and commercial underground coax and fiber cable lines. Technicians are provided with a variety of equipment to bury drops in support of our customer. This can include vibrator plows, boring machines and hand tools.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify located utilities to prevent damage.
  • Locate unmarked utilities and customer-owned equipment (e.g., dog fences, irrigation systems).
  • Restore job sites to their original condition after work completion.
  • Interpret work drawings and instructions, completing necessary paperwork.
  • Review all requested and existing services with customers before installing new drops.
  • Operate trenching and boring equipment for burying cable.
  • Use handheld units for retrieving and clearing job tasks.
  • Complete assigned tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Document all tasks, timely and accurately.
  • Ensure responsibility for any damages incurred during work.

REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • Operate machinery including trenching and boring equipment for burying cable.
  • The ability to walk 1/2 mile + while operating following a drop plow that places service cable.
  • Ability to work the schedule including overtime as needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication ability.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team player.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: 

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Completion of background and MVR checks required.

  • Ability to walk over ½ mile while operating a drop plow for cable installation.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime as needed.
