Job description

The Yard Dog Driver (Waste Ensilage Driver) is responsible for safely and efficiently managing the movement of production waste trailers. This includes removing full trailers, positioning empty ones, and monitoring the filling process under the auger lift to maintain a consistent product flow throughout the plant. The role also involves basic cleaning and upkeep of ensilage equipment, as well as assisting with the movement of raw product trailers in and out of the dump box as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a thorough inspection of the yard tractor and ensilage equipment and make daily reports.
  • Remove full and replace empty trailers of production waste under auger lift.
  • Move in and out of truck dump box raw product trailers as needed.
  • Drive in accordance with all traffic regulations.
  • Must be able to load/unload trailers properly as needed.
  • Assist in the outside operation of the production as directed by the Outside Mechanic/Supervisor.
  • Maintain ensilage equipment and yard tractor in a clean and orderly manner
  • Accurately fill out routine reports, scale tickets, and correspondence.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED, preferred.
  • 0-1 years of experience in a related field.
  • Prior CDL experience, preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to carry out responsibilities and exercise prudent judgement in decision making.
