DRIVER OPERATOR
Job Title: Driver Operator (Volumetric Concrete Mixer Operator)
Entity: L5 Concrete, LLC (the โ€œCompanyโ€)
Department: Operations
Reports To: Director of Field Operations
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: 3056 W Hwy 199, Suite 501, Springtown, TX 76082 โ€“ various job sites as assigned
POSITION SUMMARY
The Driver Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of volumetric concrete mixer trucks for the Company. This position involves transporting materials to job sites, mixing concrete on-site according to specifications, and delivering quality concrete products to customers. The Driver Operator must maintain the vehicle, ensure accurate batch mixing, and provide excellent customer service while adhering to all safety regulations and Company policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are representative of the position and are not exhaustive. The Company may modify responsibilities to meet business needs.
Vehicle Operation amp; Delivery
  • Safely operate and drive volumetric concrete mixer trucks to and from job sites in accordance with all traffic laws and Company policies.
  • Mix concrete on-site using the volumetric mixer to produce the correct concrete mix design according to customer specifications and job requirements.
  • Load raw materials (cement, aggregates, sand, water, and additives) into the mixer truck and verify correct quantities prior to departure.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and customers regarding delivery schedules, job site conditions, and any issues that arise.
  • Maintain accurate delivery tickets, logs, and records of materials delivered and time on site.
Vehicle Inspection amp; Maintenance
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, documenting any defects or maintenance needs.
  • Clean and maintain the mixer truck, including washing out the drum, chutes, and equipment after each delivery.
  • Perform minor mechanical repairs and troubleshooting on the mixer truck as needed.
  • Report all vehicle defects, maintenance needs, and equipment issues to the Director of Field Operations promptly.
Safety amp; Compliance
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Operate in full compliance with DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, and applicable Texas intrastate commercial vehicle standards.
  • Maintain a current CDL, DOT medical certification, and all other required driver qualifications.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or unsafe conditions to the Director of Field Operations immediately.
Customer Service amp; General Duties
  • Represent L5 Concrete professionally and courteously in all interactions with customers, GC personnel, and project site staff.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by supervisor, including general labor tasks at job sites when necessary.
  • Maintain a professional and clean appearance on delivery routes and at customer sites.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education amp; Experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience operating volumetric mixers or concrete mixer trucks preferred.
  • Knowledge of concrete mixing and delivery processes a plus.
Licenses amp; Certifications
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B required.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Current DOT medical certification (Texas intrastate standards acceptable).
Skills amp; Abilities
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Ability to read and understand delivery tickets, mix designs, and job specifications.
  • Basic math skills for calculating mix quantities and volumes.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules, including early mornings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to climb in and out of the truck cab multiple times per day.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
  • Manual dexterity to operate truck controls and equipment.
  • Visual acuity sufficient for safe driving and equipment operation.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • This position operates primarily outdoors at construction sites and on public roadways.
  • The Driver Operator will be exposed to dust, noise, varying temperatures, and construction site hazards.
  • Personal protective equipment is required and provided by the Company.
  • Early start times consistent with concrete delivery schedules; overtime and weekend work may be required based on project needs.
