Summary:The DOT Controller ensures the company’s DOT program complies with federal and state regulations while supporting safe and efficient fleet and driver operations across the organization.
Requirements:- Partners with site management to ensure DOT compliance and build strong internal relationships.
- Manages DOT programs in accordance with federal regulations and company procedures.
- Supports projects by ensuring qualified drivers and compliant commercial vehicles.
- Qualifies drivers including background checks, documentation, and credential tracking.
- Maintains driver records including licenses, medical cards, endorsements, and training.
- Ensures compliance with driver logs and federal safety regulations.
- Delivers training on DOT requirements and ELD systems.
- Manages DOT Drug and Alcohol Program.
- Oversees vehicle registration, inspections, maintenance, and permitting.
- Tracks IFTA filings and heavy vehicle use taxes.
- Performs audits to ensure DOT compliance and communicates findings.
- Acts as subject matter expert across DOT-related systems and regulations.
- Supports reporting, metrics, and program improvement initiatives.
- Attends work regularly and complies with company policies.
Safety:- Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action.
- Ensures safe practices are followed and reinforces strong safety culture.
- Reports unsafe conditions and supports transportation safety programs.
- Promotes DOT compliance and safe driver behaviors.
Qualifications:- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Associate’s degree in Business or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of related experience in DOT, construction, or transportation required.
- Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations.
- Experience with fleet or compliance systems preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to research and interpret regulatory requirements.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
Anticipated base salary range:$56,000 - $69,000
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
