Job description

As a Driver Manager/Load Planner you will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing daily trucking operations. This position requires a proactive leader who ensures efficient load planning, driver performance, and customer satisfaction while maintaining compliance with company policies and DOT regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primary source of communication with driver, including, but not limited to, load information, purchase orders, maintenance coordination, performance counseling and dissemination of general company news and information
  • Ensure that each driver has an adequate understanding of all details of customer requirements and company expectations
  • Responsible for effective management of an assigned fleet of tractors and drivers that will yield optimum performance including, but not limited to, the following categories:
  • On-time pickup and delivery performance
  • Out of route miles
  • Hours of service compliance
  • Driver availability
  • Accommodation of special routing needs
  • Cost control focus
  • Daily accounting of all assigned trucks and drivers and ensure the highest possible utilization
  • Lead and retain a designated fleet of regional drivers.
  • Establish a good working relationship with each driver.
  • Work with planning to obtain loads for their fleet and dispatches drivers.
  • Manage driver availability to maximize the productivity of their fleet.
  • Perform A.M. and P.M. checks and update ETA & PTA's on trucks and note daily.
  • Perform monthly driver reviews.
  • Manage driver performance and take proper disciplinary steps if necessary.
  • Know, support and enforce company policies.
  • Manage service levels of 98% for on time pickup and delivery.
  • Ensure payroll accuracy for assigned drivers.
  • All other duties and projects as assigned.
