Job description

Jenks Public Schools Job Description

Position: School Bus Driver In-Training

Reports to: Training Department and Director of Transportation

Supervises: None

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Good driving record.
  • Complies with all state requirements.
  • Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Position Goal: To obtain a class B CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Attend all theory training classes or complete the ELDT online 19.1 theory course and complete 4 section tests with an 80% or higher.
  • Study and pass (4) section tests to obtain a commercial learner's permit at the DPS office.
  • Work with the transportation training instructors to learn all necessary skills to pass the DOT test to obtain a class B CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements.
  • Learn to safely operate a school bus.
  • Learn Jenks Transportation protocols.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Employment Terms: Temporary hourly contract

Physical Demands:

Occasional Requirements: Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 40 pounds.

Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.

Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.
