Job description

Program & Location: SEMCOA's Laundry Program - New Bedford, MA
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred
Pay Range: $18-$23/hr (education & experience dependent)
Status: Part Time, 20hrs/week
Shift: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
About Us
SEMCOA's (Southeast Massachusetts Council on Advocacy) mission is to advocate for and provide support to individuals, families, and communities in the areas of substance use, mental illness, domestic violence, homelessness, and parenting. SEMCOA operates four emergency assistance family shelters that provide supportive services to families and assist them with securing permanent housing. SEMCOA also provides residential recovery home treatment to individuals with substance use disorders, as well as transitional and permanent housing stability and support programs. Our portfolio also includes two graduate sober houses, the Family Preservation Program, as well as Greater Brockton and Greater Attleboro Taunton Healthy Families programs.
Driver/Delivery Person
At least two years of licensed driving, must have clean driving record, knowledge of Southcoast MA area.
Laundry Driver/Delivery Person Requirements
  • Must always present as courteous and professional;
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to perform multiple tasks;
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in logical and clear fashion;
  • Must have the ability to work with others in a cooperative and collaborative manner;
  • An understanding of the relationship between substance use, mental health and/or self-help programs;
  • An understanding of boundaries and ethics and report inappropriate behavior;
  • Comply with Federal Regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, Substance Abuse Confidentiality Regulations and HIPAA Regulations;
  • Completion of the HPAO crisis de-escalation program;
  • Certification in CPR;
  • Provide a valid driver's license and current driving record;
  • Provide a current copy of auto registration with automobile insurance (only if using own personal vehicles);
  • Provide a copy of the current vehicle inspection report (only if using own personal vehicles);
  • TB Screening;

Laundry Driver/Delivery Person Duties & Responsibilities
  • Must not veer from designated routes for any unauthorized stops;
  • Always utilizes standard precautions;
  • Demonstrates behaviors that recognize the rights of patients/families as defined by the patient/ rights policies;
  • Sign and Adhere to HPAO Transportation of Patients Policies and Drivers Agreement;
  • Provide a smoke free environment in both company and personal vehicle;
  • Will be responsible for completing an incident/accident/environmental report when required;
  • Must report all accidents to program management and a police report must be filed at time of incident;
  • Immediately report any infractions or issues with driver's license to Program Management regardless of if the issue occurred during work or personal time;
  • Ensure appropriate use of agency gas card and ensure card and vehicle keys are returned to proper location/person;
  • Complete trips/tasks as directed by Program Director (i.e. errands, deliveries, drop off/pick up mail) and submit receipts as directed;
  • Maintain positive rating with agency vehicle monitoring system (Geotab);
  • Maintain all documentation, including mileage log related to vehicle maintenance and transporting duties in accordance with stated policies;
  • Maintain daily trip schedule, prioritize/organize trips and ensure vehicle does not make unauthorized stops and that time is accounted for;
  • Ensure a copy of the Driver's Manual, First Aid Kit are in vehicle and be knowledgeable of procedures in the case of incident or accident;
  • Ensure completion of vehicle preventative maintenance, and emergency road repairs (i.e. changing flat tire);
  • Maintain interior of the vehicle in a clean manner, ensuring daily that vehicle is free from debris and contraband;
  • Attend all required trainings and staff meetings;
  • Pick up linen/laundry as directed at scheduled times;
  • Load and unload order to appropriate sites in a timely manner;
  • Ensure bags reach Laundry in a timely manner;
  • Maintain record of pick-ups and deliveries;
  • Follow safety guidelines/procedures as set forth in the Laundry Operations Manual;
  • Assist laundry attendant as necessary;
  • Coordinate daily needs with the on-duty Lead Attendant/Designated Staff;
  • Other duties as assigned by Office Manager, Program Director or Site Director.

Laundry Driver/Delivery Person Qualifications
  • Valid Massachusetts driver's license;
  • Possess clean, approved driving record;
  • Physical ability to perform job duties.
