Position Title: Non-CDL Driver

Reports to: Assistant Manager

Classification: Hourly

Department: Delivery

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Non-CDL Driver to join our lumberyard team. This position plays a key role in ensuring our customers receive building materials in excellent condition, on time, and with exceptional service. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment and values teamwork, safety, and accuracy.

Purpose of Position: The Non-CDL Driver transports lumber, building materials, and other products between our lumberyard, customer job sites, and other company locations using company vehicles that do not require a CDL license. Drivers must operate vehicles safely, comply with all state and federal traffic regulations, and follow company procedures to ensure accurate and timely deliveries

Essential Functions: (Must be able to perform these functions, with or without reasonable accommodation).

Safely operate a flatbed or box truck in compliance with DOT, state, and company regulations

Load, secure, and deliver building materials to customers' job sites.

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting any maintenance or safety concerns.

Verify that delivery tickets match materials loaded.

Unload materials at job sites, ensuring products are handled with care and delivered to the agreed location.

Pick up returns from job sites and complete required documentation.

Assist forklift operators during loading and unloading when needed.

Accurately complete delivery logs, including mileage, time, and delivery details.

Relay accurate messages between customers and the company.

Maintains knowledge of proper identification of inventory items.

Wait on customers while truck is being loaded, unloaded, and during slow delivery periods.

Account for company funds when necessary (e.g. C.O.D.'s)

Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in yard and warehouse.

Maintain a clean delivery truck and assist in maintaining a safe and organized yard and warehouse.

Assist with inventory counts and general yard duties when not making deliveries.

Immediately report all accidents, injuries, or property damage to the Yard Foreman or General Manager.

Adhere to all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: (With or without reasonable accommodations)

Ability to operate delivery vehicles safely in all weather and traffic conditions.

Experience with flatbed and box truck driving for work purposes.

Understanding of load securement and safe material handling.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

Must be able to pass company-provided forklift and/or Moffett training and maintain certification..

Good communication skills and customer service mindset.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Must maintain a clean driving record and comply with DOT requirements.

Must be comfortable maneuvering and parking the delivery vehicle.

Must be able to read, write and communicate in English effectively.

Must be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to wear all applicable PPE properly.

Must pass a background check and DOT drug test and DOT physical.

Experience and Education Requirements:

High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Valid driver's license with no major moving violations.

2+ years proven experience with similar equipment and environment is preferred.

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs frequently; occasionally up to 100 lbs.

Must be able to see within normal range of vision with or without corrective lenses.
