Drive By Property Inspections information

What is a drive by property inspection?

A Drive By Property Inspections job involves assessing the exterior condition of a property without entering it. Inspectors take photos, verify occupancy, and note visible issues like damages or code violations. These inspections are often used by banks, lenders, or insurance companies to monitor properties. The job requires attention to detail, a reliable vehicle, and the ability to follow specific guidelines.

What does a drive by property inspection do?

Drive By Property Inspectors typically spend their days traveling to assigned properties, visually assessing exterior conditions, and taking photos to document their findings. Most of the work involves following set routes, filling out standardized inspection reports on mobile devices, and submitting timely updates to supervisors or clients. While interaction with property owners is rare, clear communication may be necessary if an issue or access limitation arises. This role is largely independent, making self-motivation, efficient route planning, and reliability essential traits for success. Many inspectors appreciate the flexibility and autonomy the position offers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the drive by property inspection position, and why are they important?

To excel in Drive By Property Inspections, you need keen observational skills, attention to detail, a valid driver’s license, and knowledge of basic property evaluation standards. Familiarity with digital inspection reporting tools and GPS mapping applications is often required, along with occasional use of mobile cameras or tablets. Strong time management, reliability, and clear written communication help you efficiently document findings and meet deadlines. These competencies ensure accurate, consistent property assessments that support real estate, insurance, or financial decision-making processes.
