Job Description:

Crowe's dynamic and entrepreneurial Federal Tax Consulting Services practice incorporates cutting edge technology into an innovative team-based approach to deliver specialized federal tax consulting to clients ranging from middle market companies to the Fortune 500. The group is currently searching for a Senior Manager to lead projects in the areas of energy tax credits and R&D tax credits. A successful candidate will be prepared to assist the current leadership in expanding revenue by working with practice offices on existing clients and external opportunities coming through our business development team and possess the following skills:

Managing R&D projects with a focus on growing R&D tax credit engagements for Energy companies where expertise in the following areas will help Crowe gain market share:

  • Seismic imaging technology

  • Experimental drilling technology

  • Experimental completion technology

  • Unique drilling/fracking techniques

  • Stage spacing for well completions

  • Experimental fluids and proppant formulas

Managing Energy Tax Credit projects:

  • Managing Prevailing Wage & Apprenticeship (PWA) engagements for both large and small energy projects (solar, wind, hydrogen, battery storage, etc.).

  • Managing Investment Tax Credit (ITC) and Production Tax Credit (PTC) studies. Including performing tax technical analysis and drafting reports for our clients.

  • Drive business development and sales growth

  • Exhibit proven leadership and project management skills in managing client service teams and multiple projects in a fast-paced and interactive team environment to meet and exceed client expectations

  • Performing tax technical analysis and quality review on tax credit studies and communicating tax technical issues to the broader team

  • Deep understanding of IRC Sections 45 and 48 and related regulations and guidance.

  • Effectively lead client discussions with multiple stakeholders including Tax Directors, General Contractors, Project Managers, etc.

  • Develop and execute project work plans

  • Develop appropriate quantitative and qualitative documentation to support project results

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills

  • Strong data management skills, including advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Alteryx

  • Ability to mentor and develop staff and young professionals, including on the job technical training and coaching

  • Personal drive to develop self/others and provide leadership insight to the existing leadership team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or engineering, MST is a plus.

  • At least 7+ years experience in public accounting; strong preference for Big 4 or large regional firm experience.

  • Experience in the subject matter areas described above preferred.

  • CPA, EA, or PE credential required.

At Crowe, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $139,200.00 - $293,500.00 per year.
