What is a drill bit?

Drill bits are cutting tools used with drills to remove material and create holes, typically in materials such as wood, metal, plastic, or masonry. They come in various shapes and sizes, each designed for specific materials and hole sizes. The most common type is the twist drill bit, but there are also specialized bits like spade, masonry, and auger bits. Choosing the right drill bit depends on the material you're working with and the size of the hole you need to make. Proper use and maintenance of drill bits help ensure clean holes and extend the tool's life.

Excellent problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills help you collaborate with rig crews and stakeholders to optimize bit performance. These skills and qualities are crucial for designing efficient, cost-effective drill bits that enhance drilling productivity and safety.
