Standex Aerospace & Defense (A&D) segment manufactures large customized near-net-shaped metal formed components such as fuel domes, lip skins, and other aerospace components. Our unique spin forming process is the most efficient forming process for these parts, while we also have a complementary deep draw forming process for parts with varying shapes and contours. These parts are difficult to manufacture due to their size and tight specifications. With facilities in the US and UK, our segment is positioned to serve customers in the space, aviation, and defense markets in the North American and European regions. What You'll Do
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Spinner is responsible for operating and monitoring spinning machinery to produce metal components according to production specifications. This role ensures quality standards are met while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
2nd Shift: 3:30pm-12:00am; training on 1st shift - shift differential of $1.50
Technical Job

• Read work order, blueprints, and specifications to determine operation requirements
• Under supervision, operate CNC and hand spin lathe to meet desired specifications
• Determine the necessary spin tools such as chucks, rollers and trimming tools necessary for the production of spun parts
• Measure and mark cutting and trimming lines on part, using measuring instruments, scriber, or marking pen
• Install and align machine accessories, such as rollers, tailstock, and headstock
• Cut and trim parts by controlling movement of part secured in fixture, on work positioner, or entering commands to retrieve and start preprogrammed cutting or trimming instructions to part
• Measure dimensions of finished part using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators, or check fixture
• Operate and control torch/heat input to part to achieve desired material temperature
• May trim, sand, and drill parts, using shop equipment
• Perform daily/weekly maintenance on spinning equipment/tools (oil, clean, and inspection)
• Accurately execute Company Process Control (PC) instructions and provide feedback when revisions are needed
• Document actions by completing production and quality logs as needed
• Accomplish organization goals by actively exploring opportunities to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. (SQDC)

• Train others by openly sharing information, knowledge, and expertise with the team
• Complete job assignments as directed by Manufacturing Manager
• Attend meetings, trainings, and participate in audits as directed

Safety

• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations

• Comply with all company rules including company safety policy and all federal, state, local, and other safety regulations and practices
• Use personal protective equipment and devices provided for machinery, equipment, tools and processes, when defined in PCS, Company Safety Policy, Job Safety Analysis or Management direction
• Report all unsafe conditions, accidents and injuries immediately to management

Housekeeping

• Actively participate in 6S and lean activities as outlined by the Company
• Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following Company instructions
• Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
• Store and maintain tools, equipment and gauges as defined by company standards
• Keep work area clean and organized to company standards/expectations
• Daily cleaning and sweeping of work area, tools and equipment
• Empty trash and waste as needed
• Personal items removed from workstations

What You'll Bring

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
• Minimum 1-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Forklift experience is preferred
• Reliable transportation
