If you are looking for your next career move, consider this - Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Electrical Drafter / Designer to produce the electrical drawing packages our engineers, contractors, and plant electricians rely on to build, energize, and maintain capital projects.

In this role you will develop single-line diagrams, electrical plans, schematics, and cable and panel schedules from established templates and standards, and you will help keep those templates and the document control process behind them current. This is a role for someone who takes pride in clear, consistent, buildable drawings and who wants to grow their electrical design knowledge alongside a team of practicing engineers.

Our Team

The Georgia Pacific Design Services group provides in-house electrical design support to Georgia-Pacific facilities across the region. Our electrical team partners with plant engineering and project teams on work ranging from small capital improvements to full process equipment, substation, and motor control center installations. You will sit alongside electrical engineers who review drawings daily, share standards, and will give you exposure to a broad range of industrial power, control, and networking systems.

What You Will DoDocumentation and Drawing Management
  • Produce complete, issue-ready drawings from established templates and company drafting standards
  • Create and maintain drawing templates, title blocks, symbol libraries, and layer standards for the group
  • Apply consistent drafting and drawing presentation practices so that every package looks and reads the same way
  • Manage the drawing lifecycle from initial issue through revision, construction markup, and as-built, including drawing numbering, organization, and document control
  • Incorporate engineer redlines and field changes accurately and turn them around on project schedules
Electrical design deliverables
  • Single-line diagrams for 15kV unit substations; 5kV unit substations and motor control centers; 480V unit substations and motor control centers; and panelboard schedules
  • Electrical plans covering grounding, underground duct banks, lighting, power, control, and networking
  • Schematics including switchgear three-line diagrams, switchgear schematics, motor elementary and connection diagrams, and PLC wiring diagrams
  • Cable schedules and panel schedules, kept in step with the drawings they support
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Experience producing electrical design documentation in an industrial, manufacturing, or utility environment
  • Experience drafting in a CAD environment, including working from and maintaining drawing templates
  • Experience creating single-line diagrams, electrical plans, and schematics
  • Experience with drawing revision control and document management practices
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical
  • Experience with Revit
  • Experience documenting medium-voltage equipment, including 5kV and 15kV unit substations and motor control centers
  • Experience with PLC wiring diagrams, motor elementary and connection diagrams, and other control system documentation
  • Experience establishing or improving CAD standards and templates for a design group
  • Associate degree or technical certificate in drafting and design technology, electrical technology, or a related field
  • Experience supporting building products, pulp and paper, or other heavy manufacturing operations
