Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated, organized, and detail-oriented Paralegal or Legal Assistant to support attorneys in a busy law practice handling personal injury litigation, breach of contract matters, and wills, trusts, and probate cases.

The ideal candidate will have strong administrative and case-management skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects at the same time. This position requires professionalism, discretion, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.

Duties

The Paralegal / Legal Assistant will assist attorneys with day-to-day case management and legal support, including

  • Maintaining the attorney’s calendar and tracking court deadlines, Uniform Trial Order deadlines, discovery deadlines, hearings, mediations, and internal deadlines.
  • Assisting attorneys with case preparation, including legal research, document collection, and review of relevant records.
  • Organizing and maintaining case files to ensure all documents are complete, current, and properly stored.
  • Drafting and responding to emails, correspondence, letters, and client communications.
  • Preparing initial drafts of pleadings, contracts, discovery materials, notices, letters, and other legal documents.
  • Transcribing legal documents, notes, chonological fact outlines, and correspondence accurately.
  • Managing project timelines and ensuring legal tasks are completed on time.
  • Assisting with litigation preparation, including trial binders, exhibit lists, Bates-stamping documents, and organizing trial materials.
  • Maintaining an organized filing system using the firm’s case-management or document-management software.
  • Communicating professionally with clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other parties involved in legal matters.
  • Gathering necessary information and documents from clients to support case development and trial preparation.
  • Supporting attorneys before hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial.

Requirements

  • Experience and knowledge in the legal field.
  • A degree in paralegal studies or a related field is preferred; relevant experience may be considered.
  • Familiarity with curcuit civil litigation and/or probate.
  • Strong administrative skills with proficiency in document review and management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to transcribe accurately.
  • Experience with project management principles to effectively handle multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Ability to draft professional emails, letters, and legal documents.
  • Proficient in using document management systems and case management software.
  • Experience managing multiple cases, projects, and deadlines at the same time.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are essential.
  • Professional judgment, confidentiality, and reliability.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience preparing discovery responses and requests.
  • Experience organizing medical records, demand packages, pleadings, and litigation files.
  • Experience with trial preparation, exhibit organization, and Bates-stamping.
  • Familiarity with e-filing systems and court procedures.
