Job description

Drafting Design Associate – HVAC

At APS we are looking for our next team member to join us as a Drafting Design Associate – HVAC.

What qualities are we looking for?

This role has a flexible schedule and could have the opportunity to be part time for university students working around a school schedule.

Duties Include:

  • HVAC Drafting Design by utilizing Revit software and supporting an engineering team.
  • Learning: could learn on the job to understand the following: equipment selection, system application, design technical support, code assessment, drafting, and plan submittal.
  • Teamwork: assist in the development and submission of plans as, and/or by the Supervising Professional on all designs submitted to the State, Local, or Municipal plan approval agencies. Manage the change order process for all projects through completion. As growth is an important part of the organization, other duties may be assigned.
  • Engineering Support. Prepare drawings for customers showing necessary equipment, accessories, and other applicable technical information. Provide heating and cooling load calculations for HVAC and refrigeration applications.
  • Product & Process Knowledge: to include assisting in the development of bill of materials. Develop work product for external and internal customers. Stay current with all appropriate national, state and local codes as they apply to the products sold and their applications. Work in a virtual engineering environment with coordination between all design stakeholders.

Candidates must have:

  • Previous experience in Revit is required.
  • Associate degree in HVAC (or working towards a degree), or equivalent education and work experience required.
  • Professional Engineering license or HVAC Designer's permit is a plus but not required.
  • Working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems engineering and application is essential.
  • Commitment to continued education and professional development.
  • Good command of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Capacity to prioritize duties in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer relation skills and business acumen are imperative for success in this position.
