What is a DPD driver?

DPD drivers are delivery professionals who work for DPD, a major parcel delivery company. Their main responsibility is to collect, transport, and deliver parcels to customers efficiently and on time. They typically drive vans, follow assigned routes, and use handheld devices to track deliveries and obtain customer signatures. DPD drivers may also handle customer queries and ensure parcels are handled safely and securely. The role requires good driving skills, reliability, and strong customer service abilities.

What does a typical day look like for a DPD driver, and how is the workload managed?

As a DPD Driver, your day usually starts at the depot where you load your van with pre-sorted parcels. You'll follow a scheduled route, delivering packages to homes and businesses, and may handle collections as well. The workload is managed through route optimization technology, but traffic, weather, and customer availability can present challenges that require good time management and problem-solving skills. Drivers often work independently but stay in regular communication with the depot team for support. This role offers a dynamic work environment and the opportunity to interact with a variety of customers throughout the day.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a DPD driver, and why are they important?

To thrive as a DPD Driver, you need a valid driving license, good driving record, and basic knowledge of local routes and road safety regulations. Familiarity with handheld delivery scanners, GPS navigation systems, and route optimization software is typically required. Excellent time management, customer service skills, and reliability help drivers stand out when interacting with clients and adhering to tight schedules. These skills ensure timely, safe, and efficient parcel delivery, directly impacting customer satisfaction and company reputation.

What is the difference between Dpd Driver vs Parcel Courier?

AspectDpd DriverParcel Courier
Required CredentialsValid driving license, sometimes a courier or delivery certificationValid driving license, delivery or courier certification often preferred
Work EnvironmentDelivery vans, urban and rural routes, company depotsVans or bikes, flexible routes, various delivery settings
Employer & Industry UsageMajor parcel delivery companies like DPD, logistics industryCourier services, logistics, e-commerce delivery

Both Dpd Drivers and Parcel Couriers deliver packages using similar vehicles and require comparable licenses. Dpd Drivers typically work for a specific courier company like DPD, focusing on scheduled parcel deliveries, while Parcel Couriers may work independently or for various companies, often handling a broader range of delivery types. Understanding these differences helps job seekers find the right role in the logistics and delivery industry.

What qualifications do Dpd drivers need?

Dpd drivers typically need a valid driving license suitable for the vehicle they will operate, often a Category B license for vans. They should have good customer service skills, a clean driving record, and may be required to pass a background check and health assessment. Some roles also require knowledge of delivery routes and basic vehicle maintenance skills.

Job description

About the Role

GreenWave Radios is seeking a highly technical Staff RF System Test Engineer to develop, automate, and execute system-level validation of next-generation RF SoC platforms from early silicon bring-up through production release. You will be a hands-on contributor responsible for uncovering complex RF performance issues, building scalable test infrastructure, and generating the data that drives critical design decisions.

As a member of the Systems Engineering Group in San Jose, CA, this role sits at the intersection of RF hardware, embedded software, and test automation. You will work directly with designers and developers to characterize radio performance, debug challenging system behaviors, and create robust automated test solutions that ensure compliance with global wireless standards.

The ideal candidate combines deep RF measurement expertise with strong software development skills and enjoys solving difficult technical problems through rigorous experimentation and data-driven analysis.

What You'll Do
  • Design, implement, and execute 3GPP Radio Conformance Testing (RCT) methodologies for next-generation RF SoC and radio platforms, including test development, automation, data analysis, and debug
  • Develop automated validation frameworks, instrument drivers, and measurement applications in Python and MATLAB to improve test coverage, repeatability, and engineering productivity
  • Perform hands-on characterization of RF subsystems and signal chains, including power amplifiers (PA), low-noise amplifiers (LNA), filters, CFR, and DPD algorithms across multiple wireless technologies and carrier configurations
  • Investigate and root-cause RF performance issues using laboratory measurements, statistical analysis, and cross-functional debugging with hardware, firmware, and software teams
  • Develop custom measurement techniques and validation workflows to evaluate key radio performance metrics such as EVM, ACLR, sensitivity, Noise Figure, spectral emissions, and transmitter linearity
  • Drive silicon bring-up and system-level validation activities, identify performance gaps, and provide actionable recommendations to design teams
  • Evaluate, integrate, and optimize advanced RF test equipment and commercial test solutions to improve measurement accuracy and test throughput
  • Build scalable automated regression test environments that support continuous validation throughout the product lifecycle
  • Analyze large RF data sets to identify trends, anomalies, and performance limitations, translating results into clear technical insights and design guidance
  • Author detailed technical reports, validation procedures, and engineering documentation that support product development, certification, and manufacturing readiness
What You Bring
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field required; MS preferred
  • 8+ years of hands-on RF system test, validation, or characterization experience with wireless communication products
  • Strong software development skills in Python and MATLAB with demonstrated experience building automated test infrastructure and measurement tools
  • Deep understanding of RF measurement principles and wireless performance metrics, including EVM, ACLR, spectral emissions, sensitivity, Noise Figure, gain, linearity, and transmitter performance
  • Proven experience characterizing and debugging RF subsystems such as CFR, DPD, PA, LNA, filters, mixers, and transceiver architectures
  • Hands-on experience with RF test instrumentation including spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers/generators, VNAs, oscilloscopes, power meters, and related equipment
  • Experience validating wireless systems operating across multiple radio technologies, including 4G and 5G platforms
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a demonstrated ability to isolate root causes and solve complex RF performance issues
  • Ability to independently define experiments, interpret results, and drive technical investigations with minimal direction
  • Strong technical communication skills, including the ability to present complex measurement results and engineering tradeoffs clearly to technical audiences
Nice to Have
  • Experience with RF SoC validation, silicon bring-up, or production test development
  • Familiarity with firmware validation, embedded software debugging, or digital hardware verification methodologies
  • Understanding of Radio Unit (RU) architectures and O-RAN/vRAN systems
  • Experience developing CI/CD-enabled test automation environments using GitLab or similar version control platforms
  • Experience applying data analytics, machine learning, or AI-assisted approaches to RF test optimization, anomaly detection, or signal integrity analysis
  • Proficiency using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools to accelerate test development, automation, and technical documentation
  • Experience leveraging AI-augmented engineering workflows to improve test efficiency, debug productivity, and coverage generation
