Job description

Under the supervision of the Healthy Living Leadership and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the CrossFit Instructor - Level 3 provides expert-level coaching, program leadership, and mentorship to support members in achieving advanced fitness and wellness goals. This role is
responsible for leading specialized programming, mentoring newer instructors, and contributing to the
strategic direction and growth of the CrossFit program within the YMCA community.

Essential Functions

Lead advanced CrossFit classes and specialized training sessions tailored to experienced and
goal-driven participants (minimum of 2 per week).
Design progressive and personalized programming aligned with advanced health andperformance goals, including sport-specific training and movement refinement.
Serve as a program leader and mentor to other CrossFit instructors, offering guidance, feedback,
and support for professional development.
Lead promotional efforts and collaborate with center leadership to expand CrossFit program
reach and retention.
Monitor member progress and provide expert coaching on form, safety, mobility, recovery, and
performance enhancement.
Uphold YMCA safety and equipment standards and report any risks or concerns promptly.
Manage administrative responsibilities including attendance tracking, evaluations, and incident
documentation.
Remain current on evolving CrossFit methodologies, health trends, and continuing educationopportunities.
Represent the YMCA professionally at staff meetings, trainings, and community fundraising
campaigns (e.g., Annual Giving).
Demonstrate leadership, integrity, and commitment to personal wellness as a role model withinthe YMCA.

Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
CrossFit Level 1 Certification or higher (Level 2 or 3 preferred).
Minimum of five years of CrossFit coaching experience (averaging 2+ hours/week), or equivalentcombination of a four-year degree in a health-related field and advanced certification(s).
Completion of all mandatory YMCA of Greater Charlotte trainings by required deadlines.
Proven expertise in designing and delivering advanced CrossFit programming across diverse
populations.
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop other instructors within the program.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a passion for helping individuals exceed their
fitness potential.
Flexible schedule availability, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
High-level customer service orientation with the ability to engage and inspire participants.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and digital communications.
Commitment to continuous learning and the YMCA's mission and core values.

All YMCA team members are expected to maintain a current and active status for all safety, risk, and
programming certifications defined by the YMCA of Greater Charlotte.

Working Conditions

Must be available to teach and coach during varied schedules, including weekends and evenings.
Ability to move dynamically, lift up to 50 pounds, and assist with spotting and correcting
participant movements.
Capable of standing, bending, kneeling, and walking for extended periods.
Exposure to bodily fluids, exercise equipment, and communicable diseases.
Visual and auditory capacity to quickly respond to emergencies and ensure participant safety.
Ability to input and manage data using a computer or mobile device.
