Now hiring: Full-time Inside Sales Representative in our Flooring Department at Doug Ashy Building Materials. Apply today and join a team you can build a future with.

What Youll Do:

  • Greet every customer whether in person or on the phone with a warm, friendly attitude and a willingness to help.
  • Guide customers in selecting the right flooring products for their projects by answering questions, sharing your product knowledge, and offering suggestions that meet their needs.
  • Prepare and process customer orders accurately, ensuring everything runs smoothly from quote to completion.
  • Provide quotes and assist with special orders, following up to guarantee on-time delivery and complete satisfaction.
  • Stay current on new flooring products, materials, and trends by attending vendor training sessions.
  • Work closely with our outside sales team to ensure customer needs are met quickly and effectively.
  • Help maintain accurate inventory by reporting shortages or discrepancies and keeping the department stocked and organized.
  • Support your teammates by cross-training in different areas when needed, because teamwork builds success!
  • Look for new business opportunities and share leads with your manager to help us grow.
  • Keep the showroom clean, safe, and customer-ready at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager to support the success of the team and business.

Requirements

  • A people-first mindset with strong customer service skills and you enjoy helping others and solving problems.
  • Clear and friendly communication skills, both in person and over the phone.
  • Basic computer knowledge and comfort learning point-of-sale and inventory systems.
  • Ability to stay organized, accurate, and focused in a busy environment.
  • Prior flooring or building materials experience is a plus, but not required. Well train the right person with the right attitude!
  • Previous sales, retail, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 20 pounds and perform light physical tasks such as bending, reaching, and organizing products.
  • Comfortable using a computer for extended periods while handling customer interactions.
  • Position is primarily indoors with standard office and retail conditions.
