What is a double?

In the context of employment, a 'Double' typically refers to a person who temporarily takes the place of another in a specific role, often in the entertainment industry. For example, a body double is used in film or television to stand in for an actor during certain scenes, such as stunts or scenes requiring nudity. Doubles are chosen for their physical resemblance to the original actor and their ability to perform specific tasks. The job requires flexibility, professionalism, and sometimes specialized skills, depending on the scene's needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a double?

To thrive as a Double (body double or stand-in), you need physical similarity to the principal actor, reliability, and professionalism, typically with experience or training in acting or on-set procedures. Familiarity with film set protocols, camera blocking, and sometimes union membership (such as SAG-AFTRA) are often required. Attention to detail, patience, and the ability to follow directions precisely are standout soft skills in this role. These qualities ensure seamless production processes and help maintain continuity and efficiency during filming.

What are some common challenges faced by executive assistants working as a double, and how can they overcome them?

As a Double, Executive Assistants often support multiple clients remotely, which can present challenges such as managing varying communication styles, prioritizing diverse tasks, and adapting to different workflows. Success in this role requires excellent time management, flexibility, and proactive communication to ensure all clients' needs are met efficiently. Building strong digital organization habits and leveraging collaborative tools can help streamline work and foster trust with each client. Regular check-ins and clear documentation are also essential for maintaining alignment and delivering high-quality support.
