Job Title: VB.Net software programmer
Location: Columbia, SC (locals needed)
Position type: W2 contract
 

Job Description
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and advisory support to developers for application design, programming, coding changes, and system enhancements.
  • Configure, develop, and maintain key components within the application environment.
  • Lead and manage minor projects while ensuring timely and high-quality project delivery.
  • Monitor, maintain, optimize, and support server infrastructure to ensure system stability, integrity, and performance.
  • Troubleshoot complex application, server, and infrastructure issues and recommend effective technical solutions.
  • Develop workaround solutions and implement software and equipment upgrades as needed.
  • Participate in a shared 24/7 on-call support rotation to ensure continuous availability of critical systems.
  • Collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and improve system performance.
  • Communicate effectively with IT professionals and leadership, providing regular project and status updates.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, incidents, and service requests while meeting established service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Maintain accurate documentation and update Help Desk tickets with issue status and resolutions.
  • Adhere to corporate information security policies and promote security best practices across the team.
  • Perform additional technical duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Experience with Gentax preferred.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, planning, problem-solving, and time management skills
Required Skills:
  • 20+ years of experience with VB.NET.
  • 20+ years of experience with SQL.
  • 20+ years of experience supporting State Government Tax Systems.
  • 20+ years of experience as a Software Developer.
  • Strong troubleshooting, server administration, and application support experience.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, plus four years of experience in information technology systems or a related area.
