Job description

The Day Treatment Specialist works in a team environment to support all aspects of the Day Treatment program. This position is responsible for supporting members in attendance, engaging and supervising associated programs and activities, and coordinating with internal and external care providers.

SCHEDULE

Monday- Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm (35 hours/week, Full-Time)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide group programming and activities that support opportunities for socialization and development of social and adaptive coping skills with members in cooperation with team members for all days Day Treatment is offered
  • Collaborate with care team to ensure all members access needed treatment, support, case management, and on-site appointments needed when attending Day Treatment programming
  • Work with members to engage in the pre-vocational program, including sign up, follow through, and compensation in accordance with agency and program policies
  • Ensure all interactions represent the five principles of trauma-informed care, including safety, choice, trustworthiness, collaboration, and empowerment
  • Supervise medication windows to ensure the seven rights of medication use are followed: right person, right medication, right time, right dose, right route, right reason (including refusal), and right documentation according to agency provided medication training
  • Complete daily documentation in electronic medical record on client interactions, medications dispensed when assigned, and other required documentation, ensuring an interaction and subsequent documentation are completed for all members across the team
  • Practice good financial stewardship of agency and contract resources, including how time is being spent, supplies are used, property is being maintained, etc.
  • Monitor spending of Petty Cash and other agency money to ensure accountability and appropriate use
  • Meet identified key performance indicators and metrics for the position as identified for the program, division, and agency
  • Assist with and support on-site cleaning, including skills training with members to maintain community spaces
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention and resolution as needed
  • Always maintain client and staff confidentiality

The Day Treatment Specialist works with assigned staff to ensure high standards of care are provided within the Day Treatment program, including but not limited to: ย 

  • Providing appropriate levels of skills training and assistance are provided to clients in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) per their service plan, such as assistance in personal hygiene (prompting for showers, laundry, washing hands, etc.), cleaning, finances, transportation, etc.
  • Assuring structured programming, including meal service program is available daily when Day Treatment is open
  • Partnering as a team to deliver current programming and fill vacant position duties
  • Working collaboratively with larger outpatient team of providers to support client in actively working towards treatment goals
  • Coordinating care, such as scheduling, attending, and/or arranging transportation for appointments and other case management needs
  • Maintaining and documenting in client charts, attendance trackers, etc. following agency, county, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Providing input as part of clientโ€™s care team on service plan and progress, and collaborating with other providers such as primary care provider, case manager, etc.
  • Facilitating regular group and individual activities, encounters, and specialized client events, such as outings and holiday gatherings
  • Assisting in admission and discharge planning
  • Monitoring and managing day treatment milieu
  • Assisting clients with access to medications through trained staff
  • Performing other duties as assigned

BASICQUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience serving adults with severe and persistent mental illness
  2. Apply for Agency Affiliated Counselor credential with Washington Department of Health within 30 days of hire, if not otherwise licensed, and obtain and maintain registration and/or licensure
  3. Successfully pass criminal background check before hire date
  4. Obtain/maintain valid First Aid/CPR card or certificate within 30 days of hire
  5. Hold a valid license for 1 year with clean driving record to use agency vehicles
  6. Have legible handwriting and ability to do simple mathematics
  7. Able to navigate and comprehend charts in electronic medical record
  8. Able to work independently and within a team
  9. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  10. Able to perform duties outlined above within reasonable accommodation

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS

  1. Prior experience with mental health population
  2. Bachelor's degree in social sciences or related field
