Job description

Position Overview

We are adding an experienced Lead Commercial Door Hardware Installer to our selfperforming construction team. This role is handson and fieldfocused, responsible for leading the installation of architectural door hardware on commercial projects, while coordinating closely with superintendents and project management to ensure quality, code compliance, and schedule adherence. This position is ideal for an installer who takes pride in clean, accurate work and is ready to lead crews and own the hardware scope in the field.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install commercial doors frames & hardware including locks, panic devices, closers, hinges, stops, pulls, and specialty hardware
  • Lead and coordinate daily work activities for door hardware installation crews
  • Review hardware schedules, plans, and details to ensure correct installation
  • Coordinate installation sequencing with doors/frames, drywall, ceilings, and access control trades
  • Verify field conditions and identify conflicts prior to installation
  • Ensure installations meet ADA, IBC, lifesafety, and firerating requirements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve field issues related to hardware fit, function, and coordination
  • Perform final adjustments, punch list work, and commissioning of door hardware
  • Maintain jobsite safety and quality standards
  • Communicate progress, issues, and material needs to the project team

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience installing commercial door hardware
  • Strong knowledge of architectural hardware products and installation methods
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and hardware schedules
  • Experience leading or mentoring installers in the field
  • Understanding of code requirements related to doors and hardware (ADA, egress, fire ratings)
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Reliable, professional, and able to work independently on active job sites

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working for a general contractor that selfperforms specialty scopes
  • Experience coordinating hardware with access control or electronic locking systems
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, and install hardware materials up to 100 lbs unassisted
  • Frequent standing, bending, climbing ladders, and use of power and hand tools
  • Work performed on active commercial construction sites
