A Dog Walk job involves taking dogs out for walks to ensure they get exercise, fresh air, and bathroom breaks. Dog walkers may walk multiple dogs at once or provide individual walks based on client preferences. Responsibilities can also include feeding, giving water, and cleaning up after the dogs. Many dog walkers work independently or through a pet care service, offering flexible scheduling options.

What does a typical day look like for a professional dog walker?

A typical day for a Dog Walker involves visiting client homes or designated locations to pick up dogs, following predetermined walking routes, and ensuring each pet receives adequate exercise and attention. You'll manage leashes, clean up after dogs, and sometimes administer basic care like feeding or giving medication as requested. Communication with pet owners, keeping detailed logs of each walk, and handling any unexpected situations like inclement weather or behavioral issues are also common parts of the job. Depending on your schedule, you may walk dogs individually or in small groups, coordinating with other walkers or pet care professionals if you work for a larger company. This role requires excellent time management and adaptability, as each day brings new routines and challenges.
