Responsibilities:
  • Out-patient duties including: taking accurate history and patient vitals; facilitating visits by reviewing the medical record and anticipating equipment and supplies needed for treatments; compassionate restraint of dogs and cats; administering vaccinations; venipuncture; filling initial and prescriptions; discussing medications and treatment plans with pet families, triaging emergencies
  • Diagnostics: preparing samples for in-house bloodwork, urine, and fecal analysis; preparing samples for reference lab analysis; taking radiographs safely using proper technique; assisting with ultrasounds
  • Cleaning: helping maintain general cleanliness of the hospital, using proper cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization protocols
  • Documentation: keeping accurate and detailed records about patients and client interaction in Practice Management System (AVImark)
  • Communication: maintaining excellent lines of communication with clients, CSRs, other technicians, management, and doctors
  • Other: assisting in all other areas of the hospital as needed

Requirements
Skills Required:
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to work as a team

Education and/or Experience Requirements:
  • Veterinary Technician experience is preferred
  • Experience working with animals is preferred

Physical Requirements:
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Lifting patients up and down from exam tables
  • Lifting up to 40 or 50 lbs unassisted
  • Sitting or kneeling on the ground while restraining, administering medications, and cleaning
  • Exposure to anesthetic gases and x-rays. (Proper protective equipment is provided, and its use is mandatory)
