We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Associate Veterinarian to join our veterinary team in Canal Winchester, Ohio. This is an excellent opportunity for veterinarians at all experience levels, including new graduates, who are looking to develop their clinical, surgical, emergency, and shelter medicine skills in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Our shelter-based veterinary hospital provides a diverse and high-volume caseload, offering veterinarians the opportunity to gain meaningful hands-on experience across surgery, dentistry, infectious disease, emergency care, population medicine, and advanced medical case management.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive medical and surgical care for shelter and rescue dogs in a high-volume veterinary hospital environment.
Evaluate and manage an in-house population of approximately 65 dogs, including scheduled rechecks and urgent or emergent medical concerns.
Perform approximately 3-15+ surgical procedures per day, depending on case volume and complexity.
Conduct intake examinations for approximately 3-10+ new dogs or puppies on applicable days.
Perform preventive care, diagnostic evaluations, dentistry, and soft-tissue and other surgical procedures.
Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions, including infectious diseases.
Participate in emergency and urgent care as needed.
Provide medical management for parvovirus patients through the dedicated Parvovirus Treatment Center.
Provide veterinary care for dogs from partner shelters and rescue organizations.
Collaborate closely with veterinary, animal care, behavior, and shelter teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
Maintain accurate medical records and follow established veterinary and patient-care protocols.
Participate in a rotating holiday on-call schedule and provide occasional additional coverage when necessary.
DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree from an accredited institution.
Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Ohio veterinary license.
Veterinarians at all experience levels are encouraged to apply, including new graduates.
Strong clinical judgment, communication, teamwork, and commitment to high-quality patient care.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume veterinary environment.

Training and mentorship are available for veterinarians who want to develop these skills.
Schedule & On-CallStandard schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week
Current schedule: Wednesday through Saturday, generally 8:00 AM-6:30 PM
No routine overnight on-call requirement
Rotating holiday on-call coverage, typically approximately two holidays per year
Occasional additional on-call coverage may be required when another veterinarian is unavailable
Starting compensation of approximately $115,000 per year, with flexibility based on experience and qualifications
