  • Identify and pursue new opportunities through client engagement, pipeline management, capture planning, proposal leadership, shortlist interviews, and pursuit coordination.
  • Represent Alpha in the local market through client meetings, industry organizations, networking events, and community engagement.
  • Oversee a multidisciplinary office team that may include field staff, construction managers, inspectors, schedulers, estimators, project managers, engineers, and designers.
  • Provide hands-on support to project and field teams by helping resolve staffing, coordination, documentation, technical, and client-service issues.

  • Promote clear communication among office staff, field teams, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and senior leadership.
  • Track milestones, staffing needs, deliverables, deadlines, and critical action items to keep work moving efficiently.
  • Use utilization, backlog, staffing capacity, and project performance data to support forecasting, budgeting, workload planning, and operational decisions.
  • Recruit, onboard, mentor, and retain local engineering, construction management, project management, and field staff.
  • Foster a responsive, accountable, safety-focused, and client-centered office culture.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia, CCM certification, or ability to obtain relevant licensure or certification within one year preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in civil engineering, construction management, program management, infrastructure delivery, or related consulting services.
  • Experience leading projects, field operations, staff, office activities, or client-facing delivery teams.
  • A track record of building client relationships, supporting business development, leading proposals, participating in shortlist interviews, and helping win work.
  • Established or growing professional network in Hampton Roads and/or the Commonwealth of Virginia preferred, especially with transportation, municipal, federal, construction management, contractor, or private-sector clients.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary infrastructure teams through scope, schedule, budget, quality, staffing, and client-service challenges.
  • Experience working in a field-oriented office with construction managers, inspectors, schedulers, project managers, engineers, and field crews.
  • Experience with VDOT construction management policies and procedures preferred.
  • Preferred technical background includes one or more of the following: construction management, program management, site civil engineering, transportation design, aviation infrastructure, port and marine facilities, stormwater management, land development, utility design, or water/wastewater infrastructure.
