Role summary:
Legal Specialists on the Legal Holds team are responsible for drafting, issuing, and managing legal hold notices; serving as the primary point of contact for custodians and data stewards; monitoring preservation activities; and supporting the Company's legal and regulatory preservation obligations. They work closely with attorneys, paralegals, investigators, and business partners to identify custodians, address preservation issues, respond to legal hold inquiries, and maintain accurate hold records. Legal Specialists also contribute to process improvement initiatives, operational projects, and the ongoing enhancement of Walmart's enterprise preservation program.
 
About the team:
The Central Intake and Legal Holds Team manages the intake, processing, and assignment of legal documents essential to litigation support. This team drafts, issues, and maintains legal hold notices while collaborating with stakeholders to ensure accurate preservation efforts. Members apply strong communication, document review, and process improvement skills to maintain efficient workflows and uphold legal standards. Their work supports compliance and contributes to effective management of legal matters, playing a vital role in advancing the organization’s business objectives through precise and timely legal support.
 
What you'll do:
  • Draft, issue, and manage legal hold notices in support of litigation, investigations, employment matters, and other legal proceedings. 
  • Partner with attorneys, paralegals, investigators, and business stakeholders to identify custodians and preserve relevant information. 
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for legal hold custodians. 
  • Monitor and support preservation activities to help ensure the Company meets its legal and regulatory obligations. 
  • Review requests involving data retention, deletion, and system changes to identify potential legal hold impacts. 
  • Maintain accurate legal hold records and assist with audits, reporting, and operational metrics. 
  • Contribute to initiatives and projects that enhance Walmart's legal hold program.

The hourly wage range for this position is $23.00 - $45.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
