Job description

About the Role
Are you passionate about organization, accuracy, and ensuring critical project information is managed effectively from start to finish? We're looking for a Document Control Manager to lead document management, information governance, and turnover readiness across complex construction, technology infrastructure, and mission-critical projects.
In this role, you'll serve as the central hub for project documentation, coordinating information between project management, field operations, engineering, BIM/VDC, QA/QC, commissioning teams, subcontractors, and customers. You'll help ensure project records are accurate, organized, compliant, and readily available throughout every phase of the project lifecycle.
If you thrive on creating structure, improving processes, and ensuring projects are positioned for successful turnover and closeout, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do - Manage Information and Drive Project Readiness
  • Develop and maintain document control procedures, workflows, and standards across multiple projects and business units.
  • Manage project document repositories, ensuring proper organization, version control, retention, accessibility, and distribution of project records.
  • Coordinate and track RFIs, submittals, transmittals, drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation throughout project execution.
  • Facilitate document workflows between project teams, field personnel, subcontractors, engineering groups, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Collect, review, and maintain field redlines, as-built drawings, testing documentation, commissioning records, and turnover deliverables.
  • Ensure project documentation remains current, accurate, and aligned with contractual requirements and customer expectations.
  • Monitor documentation status and proactively identify missing, incomplete, or overdue deliverables that could impact schedules or turnover milestones.
  • Support project closeout activities by coordinating the development and delivery of complete turnover packages.
  • Partner with Project Managers, QA/QC teams, commissioning personnel, and field operations to support readiness reviews and project handover activities.
  • Generate reports, dashboards, and status updates related to document control, compliance, and turnover readiness.
  • Establish and maintain document naming conventions, filing structures, and quality standards across projects.
  • Support audits, quality reviews, customer documentation requests, and compliance initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve document workflows, increase efficiency, and strengthen information management processes.
  • Ensure consistency and integrity between project records, field activities, and final deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.

What You Bring
  • Strong understanding of document control principles, document lifecycle management, and version control best practices.
  • Experience managing RFIs, submittals, transmittals, as-built documentation, turnover packages, and project closeout records.
  • Knowledge of construction project workflows, commissioning processes, and turnover requirements.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on accuracy and process improvement.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience coordinating documentation between field teams, engineering groups, subcontractors, customers, and project leadership.
  • Ability to identify documentation gaps, compliance risks, and process improvement opportunities before they impact project delivery.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive project information appropriately.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Information Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 5-8 years of experience in document control, project administration, project coordination, construction operations, or related functions.
  • Experience supporting technology infrastructure, low-voltage, telecommunications, electrical, mission-critical, or data center projects preferred.
  • Experience managing project turnover documentation and closeout deliverables strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with document management platforms such as Procore, SharePoint, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, or similar systems.
  • Experience working within highly regulated, quality-driven, or customer-focused project environments is a plus.
  • Certifications related to document control, project management, quality management, or information governance are beneficial but not required.

What's in It for You?
  • Play a critical role in ensuring successful delivery and turnover of complex construction and technology infrastructure projects.
  • Partner with project management, engineering, QA/QC, commissioning, and field operations teams across high-profile projects.
  • Help establish best practices and improve document management processes across the organization.
  • Gain exposure to mission-critical, data center, telecommunications, low-voltage, and technology infrastructure environments.
  • Join a growing organization that values accountability, collaboration, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Build a career path that can lead to leadership opportunities within project controls, operations, project management, or program management.
