Job description

OVERVIEW: We are seeking a Technical Writer to join our team and support our mission critical customer in Reston, VA. As our Technical Writeryou would provide coordination and authoring of technical writing and editing to all phases of documentation control and deployment. Responsibilities include the preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of technical documents, including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation. The Technical Writer composes and edits technical documentation for all the project's hardware and software to include installation, configuration, code documentation and how-to documentation such as end-user guides for capabilities. The Technical Writer will also provide field, data definition, and data flow documentation and will format technical publications from pamphlets, technical drawings, and consultations with technical personnel. This role requires use of multiple word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio etc. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience related to specific functional area * Certifications: Active certification for IAT Level II (e.g. CompTIA Security+) by program onboarding date. * Demonstrated Experience and knowledge: * Strong technical writing (content generation, interviews with technical teams, drafts, and formal document reviews). * Understanding and experience with document version control: formal documentation drafting, review, finalization, document control, tracking, and reporting. * Strong technical editing (reviewing and editing content for clarity and effectiveness of message, as well as proper grammar and formatting) * Experience writing and editing technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, as well as training materials to communicate clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences. * Experience organizing complex integrated document delivery with formal contract deliverables delivered on schedule. * Experience coordinating quality peer review of materials. * Experience cataloging documents, maintaining records, files, electronic media and archiving of information for publications. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Desktop publishing experience. * Experience quickly creating technical drawings, graphics, and figures. * Experience with document formats, styles, and technical writing style guides. CLEARANCE: * Top Secret minimum
