Job description

We are SLR Consulting (US), a 500+ coast-to-coast team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. We are Making Sustainability Happen.

As our new Administrative Document Specialist, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.

Role

SLR Consulting is currently seeking a full-time administrative documentation specialist with an exceptional eye for detail and a strong background in document preparation, formatting, and proofreading to join our fast-paced professional office in Cheshire, CT.

In this role, you will serve as a key resource for document quality assurance-ensuring proposals, technical reports, and client deliverables are flawlessly formatted, polished, and compliant with company standards-while collaborating with the administrative team to provide coverage and operational support to technical and professional staff. Our ideal candidate is a proactive, quick learner with extensive experience in document creation and page layout, a strong command of grammar and style guides, and a collaborative, adaptable mindset.

Responsibilities:

  • Document Preparation & Formatting: Format, style, and assemble complex technical reports, proposals, presentations, and correspondence using standardized SLR templates and style guides.

  • Proofreading & Quality Control: Perform rigorous copyediting and proofreading for grammar, punctuation, spelling, tone, consistency, and visual layout prior to client delivery.

  • PDF & Digital Document Production: Merge, paginate, bookmark, and final-check PDF deliverables, graphics, and appendice packages for digital and physical submittals.

  • Cross-Functional Team Support: Assist project managers, accounting, and HR teams with administrative tasks, data entry, and time-sensitive report production with composure and accuracy.

Working @ SLR

With us, there is no doubt you'll grow your subject-matter expertise and industry knowledge. We care about investing in our employees for the long-run, and if you ask our team, they'll tell you that's just one of the many benefits of working here. We want to be a place where you can experience career growth and satisfaction for many years.

Here's what else you'll enjoy as part of our team:

  • Competitive total compensation package including medical, dental, orthodontia, vision, FSA/HSA, generous PTO accrual, 10 paid holidays, 401(k) retirement account with company matching program, company paid life insurance, short & long term disability insurance, and employee assistance program.

  • The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $52,000. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

  • Full-time, permanent role with opportunities for professional growth and advancement

Qualifications/Education/Memberships:

  • Experience: 2+ years of administrative experience with a strong emphasis on document processing, proofreading, and quality control (experience in engineering, environmental, or professional consulting environments is highly preferred).

  • Education: Associate's degree in business, office administration, communications, English, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

  • Advanced Technical Skills:

    • Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Word styles, layout tools, table formatting, track changes, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).

    • High proficiency with PDF editing tools (Adobe Acrobat Pro, PDF-XChange) for document assembly, pagination, and redaction.

  • Document Mastery: Demonstrated success handling document lifecycles-from raw draft assembly to publication-ready deliverables-with high speed and meticulous accuracy.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with an eagle eye for detail.

  • Adaptability: Ability to prioritize competing deadlines, solve problems proactively, and maintain a high standard of quality in a fast-paced team setting.
