Job description

Job Objective:

  • Responsible for patient care. Ensures that the residents remain asindependent as possible as long as they are in the facility. Also, responsible for ensuring excellence inservice towards residents by supervising the Resident Aides for efficiency,courtesy and accuracy.

Essential JobFunctions:

  • Recruit, interview, train and delegateresponsibilities to all Resident Aides to provide proper care of Residents.
  • Orientation and in-service training of CNA's andRA's.
  • Perform evaluations of staff.
  • Over-see dispensing of medications, medicationstorage, medication reorders, records and treatments as order by attendingphysicians or relevant to minimum standards.
  • Assist the staff when there is a shortage. In the event of a call in by an employee andafter every attempt has been made to assure coverage, if unable to fillposition, the Director of Health Care Services will have to assume coverage.
  • Ensure staff is properly assisting with allpersonal care of the residents.
  • Assure personal contact with the residents.
  • Assure sign-out register for residents.
  • Order medications and stock supplies ofmedications and other products.
  • Complete Doctors' orders, checking monthlyrenewal forms.
  • Update resident's records for medicationrenewals, PPD testing, Chest x-rays and physicals, assuring proper recordkeeping in all areas.
  • Schedule residents for Doctor appointments.
  • Contact Social Workers for in-hospitalresidents.
  • Assist consultants, physicians, or other healthcare providers to assure overall medical care.
  • Constantly assess and evaluate resident's mentalstate in case a resident requires special attention outside of the facility(i.e. psychiatric treatment)
  • Responsible for meeting visitors, responsibleparties, and dealing with family members.
  • Create resident care plan based on prior historyand assessment.
  • Complete admissions and discharges ofresidents. Go over the resident careplan in detail with family members.
  • May conduct pre-admission interviews withprospective residents, his/her family or any other appropriate person todetermine placement.
  • Will conduct pre-admission assessment ofpotential residents to assess appropriateness for our facility.
  • Will assure confidentiality of each resident'smedical information.
  • Assure that the Resident Bill of Rights is notviolated.

Job Standard:

  • Experience in Assisted Living preferred.
  • Experience in dealing with health issues of theelderly is necessary.
  • Must be free of communicable diseases.
