Position Summary

The Marina Maintenance is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at Shelter Island Marina. This role supports daily marina operations and delivers excellent customer service, ensuring guests have a positive and seamless experience on the water.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, yard, and dock areas.
  • Perform assigned duties to support overall marina operations.
  • Operate portable submersible pumps to remove water from boats and dock areas.
  • Keep docks clean and hazard-free by removing trash, debris, and obstructions.
  • Assist customers with loading and unloading gear on ramps and docks.
  • Collect, clean, and organize dock carts and storage boxes.
  • Coil hoses and ensure walkways remain tidy and unobstructed.
  • Clean and maintain benches, railings, and other common surfaces.
  • Prepare and paint dock furniture (wood and metal).
  • Perform basic maintenance and repairs, including docks, cleats, hose bibs, lighting, and utilities.
  • Support general upkeep of the marina office and facilities.
  • Identify and report safety or environmental hazards to supervisors.
  • Stock and organize marina store merchandise.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Reliable, punctual, and customer-service oriented.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Able to lift, carry, and move moderate loads.
  • Basic maintenance or handyman experience preferred.
