Job Title

Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Location

Madison, WI | Inpatient Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Rotating Days and Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts | Day: 07:00–19:30 / Night: 19:00–07:30 | Every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care on an adult medical/surgical telemetry unit serving a geriatric population with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under a Family Medicine service
  • Care for patients including those from Department of Corrections facilities within a secure, locked wing staffed with DOC officers present during all patient interactions
  • Initiate and manage IV access as a routine component of patient care
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry readings, including identification of lethal cardiac rhythms
  • Float to other units as needed based on staffing requirements
  • Maintain compliance with all facility testing requirements, including a mandatory Telemetry exam prior to start
Required Qualifications
  • Active RN license required
  • BLS certification required – American Heart Association (AHA) only
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care inpatient RN experience within the last 3 years in Medical Surgical or Telemetry
  • Demonstrated experience with IV insertion and management
  • EPIC electronic health record experience required
  • Must pass a Telemetry exam prior to start (Pass/Fail with strict criteria; up to three attempts permitted under defined conditions)
  • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience working with geriatric patient populations
  • Familiarity with cardiac rhythm interpretation including heart blocks and lethal arrhythmias
  • Prior experience in a high-acuity or complex inpatient environment
