Job Description
AECOM has a unique opportunity for a Project Manager to build upon their technical and management skills within our Environmental business line to be based in one of our AECOM offices in Northern California. Project Managers are responsible for overseeing the performance of a group of projects/portfolios to assure the achievement of internal and client facing KPIs and project goals The position requires an especially accomplished individual to interface with clients, lead and support business development opportunities, and lead/influence solutions and strategies for a portfolio of remediation sites. Applicants with verifiable experience in technical roles performing and managing investigation/cleanup of contaminants of concern are highly preferred.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Project Delivery:
  • Manages projects, directs data analysis and reporting for specific environmental project tasks and guide site remediation strategies bringing sites to closure
  • Collaborates and participate in technical discussions with project team members
  • Adheres to AECOM's Quality Management System (QMS) in execution of projects and portfolios
  • Interacts with various state agencies to develop favorable risk-based remediation goals
  • Develops and maintains communication channels with clients, stake holders, and internal project teams
  • Develops and formulate solutions to client problems/issues
  • Participates in project reviews of major program/project dashboards/deep dives to identify issues and improve performance
  • Embraces workflow optimization and adoption of digital tools
  • Actively integrates global resources into project delivery and manages the change associated with this transition
  • Organically grow current portfolios through exceptional project delivery and client relationships

Operations:
  • Drive business performance and the attainment and exceedance of internal KPIs
  • Assist Program Manager to maintain departmental compliance with Business Line Pricing guidance and DOA approval framework
  • Assist Program Manager to ensure the accuracy of the department's sales pipeline data
  • Participate in proposal development to support business growth
  • Acts as a point of escalation for project issues and makes recommendations to improve performance. This may include addressing project resourcing gaps, supporting technical issues, resolving invoicing and cash collection challenges, addressing subconsultant and vendor concerns, etc.

People:
  • Builds, maintains, and facilitates trusting relationships with key contacts across the depth and breadth of client organizations
  • Directs and coordinates work assignments and review performance to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff
  • Promotes health and safety stewardship, including performing local field visit

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS within any Engineering, Business, Environmental Science Fields of study, and (4) four years of relevant work experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Ability to travel for on-site meetings and to develop client relationships
  • Valid Driver's License, subject to a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record Screening as well as background check.
  • US citizenship or permanent residency is required. Sponsorship at this time or in the future will not be available for this role.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years overall professional experience
  • PG or PE preferred
  • Verifiable experience in prominent roles performing and managing investigation/remediation of chemical / industrial / refining sites
  • Previous leadership and/or management experience
  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal
  • Master's Degree a plus in Geology, Engineering, Science or related field
  • Excellent client management skills
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Superior communication skills (writing, editing, and reporting) for a wide variety of audiences.
  • Experience in team management and scheduling of staff and resources to ensure on time and on budget project delivery
  • Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders
  • Strong project management skills and a strategic perspective
  • Excellent business analytics and organizational skills preferable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong understanding and has led professional teams in executing Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Risk Assessment, and Treatability Studies
